Celebrating Women in Construction: Emma, Administration Manager

This International Women's Day, we're thrilled to celebrate the incredible women shaping Gusto Construction. Among them is Emma James, our Administration Manager.

Emma's journey with Gusto Construction began in August 2016, after a career transition from the legal sector. She quickly settled into the team and embraced the career change.

Her role as Administration Manager is an exciting one, with everyday being completely different, as she juggles multiple responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of our projects. One moment, she might be liaising with estate agents, guiding plot sales and ensuring seamless transactions for our buyers. The next, she's collaborating with solicitors, providing vital information and support for legal aspects of the sales process.

Emma plays a crucial role in coordinating completions, ensuring our internal teams are aligned and every plot is prepared for handover. She also maintains detailed records for each site and plot, providing vital information to the rest of the Gusto Construction team. Creating positive experiences for our homeowners is important, and Emma prepares Homeowner Guides and thoughtful handover gifts, extending a warm welcome to new residents.

She also handles the essential task of utility management, recording final meter readings and ensuring smooth transitions with utility providers. Maintaining our Homeowners Database, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records, is another critical aspect of her work. When aftercare needs arise, Emma steps in, managing requests, logging calls and emails.

Paperwork is a constant at Gusto Construction, and Emma logs site documents onto our internal system, uploads information to warranty providers, and communicates with building control and solicitors. She also ensures all certificates and information are compiled into our Homeowner Guides.

"The Gusto Construction team both in the office and on site are a great bunch to work with," Emma says.

This International Women's Day, Emma reflects on the significance of the day.

"International Women's Day is a reminder of how far women have come in traditionally male-dominated industries like construction and the importance of continuing to break down barriers. As an Administration Manager, I see the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, with women bringing unique perspectives and leadership qualities that contribute to our success. It’s also a chance to reflect on our role in supporting the next generation of women by creating opportunities and an inclusive environment. It's both a celebration of progress and a call to action for continued equality in the workplace."

Emma has been a key part of Gusto Construction for the past 8 and a half years. We are proud to have her as an integral part of our team, and we are committed to encouraging a workplace where women thrive. Happy International Women's Day!
